Christian Street Furniture was born after John and Lisa Burns were inspired by the colorful clothing, accessories, and home décor that they encountered while on a family vacation with their two young daughters to Mexico.
John quickly found that aside from selling the unique merchandise to friends, family and business associates, Baton Rougeans at-large had an appreciation for the pieces, too. In the beginning, the hours of operation were sporadic. John and his wife, Lisa, would open on weekends and weeknights after working their day jobs.
But a niche market had been hit. The doors officially opened on Christian Street in Baton Rouge, which also lends its name to the business, in 1991. Now, 24 years later, the business John started out of his home has grown to include locations in Baton Rouge, Metairie, and Lafayette!
